Top 10 Magic Tricks

This is a list of the top 10 Magic Tricks for 2024. |Getting ice cold - Some magic tricks get a lot of mileage simply for being surprising. This is one of those. Stuff a sponge into the bottom of a coffee mug or other opaque cup and add a couple of ice cubes. Pour some water into the cup with a pitcher and announce your ability to turn water into ice before overturning the cup and letting the cubes fall out. Of course, a quick examination of the cup will reveal your plot pretty quickly, but for a moment, you'll be pure magic. |Getting ice cold - Some magic tricks get a lot of mileage simply for being surprising. The back screen covers 2 mirror panels. When the performance begins, the whole construction shifts the real mirror to the back side, moving 2 fake mirror panels forward. Now there is a space to move a hand. At the end of the performance, the assistants shift the real mirror to the front side again. |Walking on water - The trick is usually performed in muddy or unclear rivers or man-made waters like swimming pools. The main goal is to make a glass or clear plastic platform essentially invisible to the audience. Now you can walk on water without being the son of God. |The find the card "sucker" trick. This trick is actually a holdover from old carnival days, when "suckers," as the "carnies" called them, placed a bet when they were absolutely certain they would win. Here is how they were "suckered" in.Take a regular deck of playing cards and put the Ace of spades on the bottom of the deck.Have the person you are about to fool pick any card from the deck and not show it to you.Cut the deck in half. Ask the person to place his or her card on the top of the first half of the deck (NOT the half with the ace of spades on the bottom). Place the other half on top of the person's card. The individual's card is now the one right after the ace of spades. Now you begin turning over the cards one by one telling the "victim" that you will tell them when you find their card. They are to say nothing as you go through the process. You start flipping over cards. Theirs will be the card that you flip right after the ace of spades. You flip over the ace of spades, then their card, and continue on. At this point, they know that they've won the bet because you have already passed up their card. You flip over a few more cards and then say, "The next card I flip over will be yours. Would you like to place a bet on this?" Of course, the victim will, because you already flipped their card and didn't call it. The next card cannot possibly be theirs.Once the best is placed, you reach down to the cards on the table and flip over their card. You win. This was not fun for the victim of these carnivals when they lost a great deal of money on the scam. You, however, can be much nicer and suggest something more in line with a joke, perhaps a burger. |The rising card - This one is a bit complicated to explain, but you can manage it! For this trick, you need a regular deck of cards and a volunteer. This explanation is a bit complicated and detailed, so once you have read through this please watch the video as well. You hold a deck of cards in your hand upright, as shown in the picture above. The last card facing you and away from your audience has been lowered just a bit.You pull up the last three cards of the deck and fan them out. They are really not the last three cards, because you still have that one that has been lowered back there.Ask a volunteer to choose one of the three cards that you have pulled up. Let us suppose they choose the middle one which is, in your head, card #2. You then slide the cards back down with the one lowered card still behind them. Their #2 is now actually #3 because you have that one card behind them.Place the deck face down and start taking the cards from the top of the deck and counting off as you put those cards somewhere in the middle of the deck. If they chose card #2, then you count 1, place it in the middle and then count 2, placing it in the middle. Their card is actually the top one on the pile, because remember their card was actually #3.Put the deck back in its original upright position. Place the index finger of your other hand on top of the deck, wiggle is just a bit as the pinkie of that hand pushes the card up from the back of the deck. It might be a little confusing, but trust me that the video will help explain it all! |Card Spelling Trick - This one gets a good reaction every time! To pull it off, you'll need a key card, which is a card you always go back to. In this example, it's the nine of hearts. To start the trick, have the trickee pick a random card. Cut the deck into three piles, then have the trickee place the card on top of one of the piles. (See the video for how to cut it depending on which pile they place it on.)Now, the nine of hearts, which is the key card in this scenario, is placed on top of the card that they chose. So, when you see the nine of hearts, you know that the following card is the one they chose. Start dealing the cards into piles, turning them face up. Make one small pile of about five or six cards, then another small pile of about five or six cards, then in the third pile, you're going to turn the cards over until you find the nine of hearts. After the nine of hearts, start a new pile. The first card in that pile is the card they chose. In this example, it's the eight of clubs. Turn a few more cards over on top of the eight of clubs then start a new pile. For the new pile, you're going to spell it out: E-I-G-H-T-O-F-C-L-U-B-S, flipping over one card for each letter. Finish making another, final pile then put the pile that spells eight of clubs underneath the pile with the eight of clubs. Every other pile follows. Now, the fun part: Pick a fake card, have them correct you. They tell you, "That's not my card. My card is the eight of clubs!" Then you spell out E-I-G-H-T-O-F-C-L-U-B-S, flipping over one card for each letter. The next card you flip over after spelling it out will be their card, which in this case was the eight of clubs. |Matching up your magic - Start with two small objects not necessarily matches, but things that are close in size and shape to matches are best. Set them down side-by-side on the table. Put one hand over one, and one hand over the other. Then flip one empty hand, then the other. Here's where the trick begins. Pick up one of the objects and do a "false transfer," which means pretending to put it in the other hand while secretly tucking it into your palm. This might sound like it would be obvious, but practice makes it very convincing. Quickly ball up both fists. Then, pick up the remaining object with your thumb and forefinger while the other is already in that palm and now both matches are in one hand, though the audience thinks you've swapped them and one is in each hand. Reveal the empty hand for an awe-inspiring moment that makes it seem like you might be doing a disappearing trick, and then the other hand, which contains both objects. Ta-da! |Sword swallowing - For some performrs, learning to swallow a sword can take years as it is an extremely dangerous practice. However, fakirs from all over the world amaze people with the ability to easily swallow a sword. The trick requires lots of physical and psychological preparation. The illusionist positions his head up so that his throat and stomach make a straight line and will not be hurt by the sword. |Walking on water - The trick is usually performed in muddy or unclear rivers or man-made waters like swimming pools. The main goal is to make a glass or clear plastic platform essentially invisible to the audience. Now you can walk on water without being the son of God.
