Top 10 Magic Tricks

This is a list of the top 10 Magic Tricks for 2024.

Mind Reading With Friends - This is a fun mind reading card trick you can do with an assistant or a secret accomplice. With a bit of practice, this is an incredibly deceptive, easy-to-do magic trick. 9 playing cards from the Dapper Deck from Vanishing Inc. are used for a mind reading card trick performed on a blue close-up mat 5 of Diamonds from The Dapper Deck Playing Cards from Vanishing Inc. is used for an easy mind reading card trick Lay down 3 rows of 3 cards. They can be any cards. However, we would suggest placing a 5 of Diamonds in the upper left corner for reasons that will become clearer later. Tell your audience that you're going to leave the room and instruct them to all agree on one of the playing cards while you're gone. Once you return to the room, explain that you are going to magically discover what card they selected. Your assistant will then slowly point to each card with a pencil in front of anyone without saying anything out loud. The secret to this trick lies in how the first card (the 5 of Diamonds in this case) is touched. Imagine it's broken up into a 3 x 3 grid. For example, if they point to the top right of the card (right on the top right pip), that means the selected card was the right card of the top row (Ace of Clubs in the pictured example). Or, if they point to the middle of the bottom ? of the card (below the middle pip and in-between the two outer pips), then the selected card is the middle card of the bottom row (6 of Spades). Once the first card has been touched, you'll know which card the audience selected and the rest is just showmanship. Your assistant can touch the other cards anywhere. Once all the cards have been touched, dramatically reveal the selected card.

Do as I Do - In this classic beginner magic trick, the spectator follows along with the magician and performs their own special magic trick. This trick requires two full decks of cards (without Jokers). It's important that no cards are missing. We would also suggest using two types of decks.Bring out both decks of cards and allow the spectator to choose one.Instruct the spectator to follow everything you do as you begin to freely shuffle and cut the cards. While finishing up your last shuffle, quickly peek at the bottom card of your deck and memorize it. (we'll use the Ace of Spades for this example).Exchange decks with your spectator so they can be sure you're not using a trick deck or sneaky sleight of hand. After you exchange, instruct your spectator to cut off half the deck and place the cards to their right.Have them take the top card from the pile to their left, remember the card and place it on top of the cards to their right without showing you. Then, instruct them to pick up the pack on the left and place all these cards on top of the deck to their right. While this looks like it fairly buries their selected card in the middle of the deck, it actually secretly positions it next to your memorized key card from earlier (Ace of Spades). As they're doing this, you're completing the same actions. Except, you do not need to actually remember the card you select. Just continue repeating your key card (Ace of Spades) in your head.Exchange decks again.Tell your spectator to look for their card in their deck and pull it out face down. You will do the same, pretending to look for the card you seemingly just randomly selected. But, in reality, you are looking for the Ace of Spades. The card to its right will be their selection. Pull it out face down.Count to 3 and turn over both cards to show that you've both picked a perfect match.

Pulling a Rabbit Out of a Hat - An oldie but certainly a goodie, and still a firm favourite with children. Rabbits and magic, what's not to like? The trick has become so popular it's now a symbol for magic all around the globe. Voila! There are three ways to sell it. The most obvious is to use a table with a hidden drawer big enough to fit a rabbit. Add a concealed hole for the magician to reach through and you can get a rabbit in a hat. The second is to install a secret compartment inside the hat, slide the compartment door open to reveal a rabbit inside. The final way is when a magician uses sleight of hand, with a rabbit sitting in a bag hooked to a table. While waving their arms around, the rabbit is whisked out of the bag and produced from the back of the magician's hand into the hat.

Getting ice cold - Some magic tricks get a lot of mileage simply for being surprising. This is one of those. Stuff a sponge into the bottom of a coffee mug or other opaque cup and add a couple of ice cubes. Pour some water into the cup with a pitcher and announce your ability to turn water into ice before overturning the cup and letting the cubes fall out. Of course, a quick examination of the cup will reveal your plot pretty quickly, but for a moment, you'll be pure magic.

Climbing a ring - For this trick, you'll need to grab a key ring or even the ring off someone's finger and a rubber band. Break the rubber band and loop it through the ring before stretching out the band between your hands one higher in the air than the other. The key for this one is to stretch out only a small portion of the rubber band and tuck the rest of the loose string into the palm of your bottom hand. Slowly let the rest of the band out and it will appear that the ring is climbing the rubber band by itself. As with all of these tricks, don't forget the theatrics. You've got to sell it and take your time.

Making 25 cents from a dollar - Hold a dollar bill between your thumb and forefinger and tuck a quarter between your thumb and the bill so the audience can't see it. Wave the dollar around, grab the other side, and snap it to illustrate there are no tricks or strange things happening with it. Low lighting is best for this one as those bills can be a little transparent. Fold the bill in half (cutting symmetrically along ol' George Washington's head) and then in half again the same way. Now you can squeeze it tight and pretend to shake a quarter out, seemingly from nowhere. Make sure to talk a big game about being on your way to fame and fortune...25 cents at a time.

Walking on water - The trick is usually performed in muddy or unclear rivers or man-made waters like swimming pools. The main goal is to make a glass or clear plastic platform essentially invisible to the audience. Now you can walk on water without being the son of God.

METAMORPHOSIS OR VANISHING ACT

Mind Reading With Friends - This is a fun mind reading card trick you can do with an assistant or a secret accomplice. With a bit of practice, this is an incredibly deceptive, easy-to-do magic trick.9 playing cards from the Dapper Deck from Vanishing Inc. are used for a mind reading card trick performed on a blue close-up mat 5 of Diamonds from The Dapper Deck Playing Cards from Vanishing Inc. is used for an easy mind reading card trickLay down 3 rows of 3 cards. Your assistant can touch the other cards anywhere.Once all the cards have been touched, dramatically reveal the selected card.

Pick a Card, Any Card - This looks like the hardest trick of all time, but once it's broken down it's actually surprisingly simple. So, at the beginning of the trick you ask the trickee to shuffle the deck. Then, as you very slowly put each card down one at a time, they mentally choose a card. At the end of the trick, the trickee has told no one the card they've mentally chosen, you have no idea what it is, and everyone's mind gets blown. With a little bit of math and a little bit of psychological warfare, you're going to find the card they mentally chose.Basically, you want to go by six. After the trickee shuffles the deck, there are six random cards at the top of the deck. You don't know what they are and you don't have to. Tell them to mentally choose a card, then very slowly show them each card and put them down on the table. When you pull out at the sixth card, ask if they've chosen a card. Chances are they say yes. If they say no? No problem. Slip those six back to the bottom of the deck and do six more (very slowly). Now, with a few more tricks up your sleeve something called a pinky break and a double undercut and a little bit of full-blown mentalism you can achieve this magic card trick. But we won't attempt to explain it in full! Just watch the rest of the video for the whole tutorial.
