The Roman leader Caesarea Maritima built a great harbor in Palestine. The ruins of this ancient harbor can still be seen today in Sebastos, on the Mediterranean Sea. The breakwaters were made of volcanic ash, which hardened when mixed with seawater. They were called moles.

In America, a harbor is a sheltered body of water. In the United Kingdom, a harbor is a port. A port includes a harbor. The post office is in the city of San Francisco, California. Similarly, the Unalaska post office is located on an island. Dutch Harbor has been in operation since the mid-nineteenth century. However, it has been renamed to Unalaska, despite the fact that it was previously a salt marsh.
