Plot Quiz

Welcome to the plot quiz. When you read a novel, you will notice that the author makes frequent references to plot points. In fact, your novel's premise is essentially your story's plot. The way you handle these points will determine how well you write your novel. The following are examples of plot elements and what you need to pay attention to. A strong plot will keep the reader engaged throughout the story. A weak one may leave them frustrated and want to read another book.

A good plot must have five elements. First, the story must have a central character. Next, it must include a conflict and a resolution. These two components of the story are called plot devices. These devices help advance the plot. The main character, the protagonist, and the antagonist all need to work together to achieve their goals. The protagonist must achieve these goals or the story won't work.

A good plot must include at least one desire. This is the primary driver of a story. The characters make decisions based on their desires. For example, a caring teacher may want to buy equipment for a struggling student. Another student may want to have a holiday from class. While parents may resent the interference of Susan, the school will want teachers to follow protocol. The plot must also include conflict and desire.
