By default, Squid uses the /var/cache/squid directory to cache popular replies. In order to use the Squid Name API, you must set the cache_mem variable to a number that is larger than your website's total memory size.

You can change the cache_dir setting to define the directory that Squid will cache the objects. Its default value is 8 MB. If you want to use a different value, you can set a higher value by changing the ufs parameter to a lower value. If you're using a dial-up connection, you'll need to change the minutes to seconds and reload the browser. After that, the dial-up process should resume.. The Squid Name API is provided as a single row in JSON format. Currently there is a soft limit for subscribers of 5000 requests per month.
