The Thrihnukagigur volcano in Iceland last erupted about 4,000 years ago. It is named after the three peaks in the shape of a triangle, and the crater is known as the Three Peaks Crater. During its eruption, a glacier covered the entire crater. During this eruption, a volcanic ash cloud spread far from the crater and weakened the upper part of the mountain. The resulting depression filled with water created a lake that we know today as Crater Lake.
